LATEST VITAMIN & MINERAL MEDICAL RESEARCH -
NONI HAS IT ALL
AUGUST 23rd 2007: (Express India)
Vitamins C & E - Researchers at the
Biochemistry department of Lucknow University (LU) India have found that
Vitamin
C and E can help prevent heart attacks and other cardio-vascular diseases.
Successful clinical trials have led to the the research being published in
various journals such as like Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry (Canada),
Experimental and Clinical Cardiology (Europe), PUBMED USA
(part of the US National Library of Medicine).
Professor M K Mishra of the varsity's Biochemistry department said,
"In our
study we have found that Vitamin (C and E)
can efficiently regulate the blood
and oxygen supply to heart. These vitamins also act as clot busters, thereby
making the heart to function normally." Trials were conducted on 65 heart
patients. Potentially harmful free radicals formed inside the heart were
reported to have been reduced considerably.
NONI CONTAINS BOTH VITAMIN E AND C
Vitamin E - Antioxidants such as
vitamin E help protect your cells against the
effects of free radicals, (potentially damaging by-products of energy
metabolism).
Free radicals can damage cells and may contribute to the development of
cardiovascular disease and cancer. Vitamin E also may help prevent the formation
of blood clots, which could lead to a heart attack. Vitamin E
has also been
shown to play a role in immune function, in DNA repair, and other metabolic
processes [Traber MG. Vitamin E. In: Shils ME, Olson JA, Shike M, Ross AC, ed.
Modern Nutrition in Health and Disease. 10th ed. Baltimore: Williams & Wilkins,
1999:347-62.].
Observational studies have associated lower rates of heart disease with higher
vitamin E intake. A study of approximately 90,000 nurses
suggested that
the
incidence of heart disease was 30% to 40% lower among nurses with the highest
intake of vitamin E from diet and supplements.
Researchers found that the apparent benefit was mainly associated with intake of
vitamin E from dietary supplements. High vitamin E intake from food was not
associated with significant cardiac risk reduction [New England Journal of
Medicine 1993;328:1444-9 PUBMED ABSTRACT].
Vitamin A - helps regulate the immune system, which helps prevent or fight off
infections by making white blood cells that destroy harmful bacteria and
viruses.
Vitamin A deficiency diminishes the ability to fight infections. In vitamin
A-deficient individuals, cells lining the lungs lose their ability to remove
disease-causing microorganisms. This may contribute to the pneumonia associated
with vitamin A deficiency [Ross AC. Vitamin A and retinoids. In: Modern
Nutrition in Health and Disease. 9th Edition (edited by Shils ME, Olson J, Shike
M, Ross AC). Lippincott Williams and Wilkins, New York, 1999, pp. 305-27.].
NONI CONTAINS VITAMIN A
Vitamin B6 - The nervous and immune systems need
vitamin B6 to function
efficiently. [Gerster H. The importance of vitamin B6 for development of the
infant. Human medical and animal experiment studies. Z Ernahrungswiss 1996;
35:309-17. [PubMed abstract] from Office of Dietary Supplements.
A deficiency of vitamin B6, folic acid, or
vitamin B12 may increase your level
of homocysteine, an amino acid normally found in your blood [Selhub J, Jacques
PF, Bostom AG, D'Agostino RB, Wilson PW, Belanger AJ, O'Leary DH, Wolf PA,
Scaefer EJ, Rosenberg IH. Association between plasma homocysteine concentrations
and extracranial carotid-artery stenosis. New England Journal of Medicine
1995;
332:286-291. [PubMed abstract].
There is evidence that an elevated homocysteine level is an independent risk
factor for heart disease and stroke [Rimm EB, Willett WC, Hu FB, Sampson L,
Colditz GA, Manson JE, Hennekens C, Stampfer MJ. Folate and vitamin B6 from diet
and supplements in relation to risk of coronary heart disease among women
Journal of American Medical Association JAMA
1998; 279:359-64.].
The evidence suggests that high levels of homocysteine may damage coronary
arteries or make it easier for blood clotting cells called platelets to clump
together and form a clot - although the Office of Dietary Supplements USA say
"However, there is currently no evidence available to suggest that lowering homocysteine level with
vitamins will reduce your risk of heart disease."

on though...
Think about this for second - what is the natural result of a blocked artery,
say because of platelet build up described above? Well aterial blood flow stops
... meaning very grave health issues indeed as a result. We leave it to you to
decide whether it's wise to allow such build ups and clots to occur in your
arteries.
Vitamin B12 - helps maintain healthy nerve cells and red blood cells and is also
needed to help make DNA, the genetic material in all cells. Intestinal disorders
such as Crohn's disease, an inflammatory bowel disease that affects the small
intestines may result from malabsorption of vitamin B12.
NONI CONTAINS BOTH VITAMIN B6 & B12
Zinc - The immune system is adversely affected by even moderate degrees of zinc
deficiency. Severe zinc deficiency depresses immune function
[Shankar AH &
Prasad AS. Zinc and Immune Function: Biological basis of altered resistance to
infection American Journal of Clinical Nutrition
1998; 68:447S-463S].
Zinc is required for the development and activation of T-lymphocytes, a kind of
white blood cell that helps fight infection [Beck FW, Prasad AS, Kaplan J,
Fitzgerald JT, Brewer GJ, Changes in cytokine production and T Cell
subpopulations in experimentally induced zinc-deficient humans
American Journal
of Physiology 1997; 272:E1002-1007]
NONI CONTAINS ZINC
Magnesium - Lack of
magnesium in one's diet has often been shown as associated
with increased risk of sudden-death heart attack, as well as when drinking water
magnesium levels were low [Epidemiology 10: 31-36, 1999; Heart 82: 455-60, 1999;
American Journal of Epidemiology 143: 456-62, 1996]
Calcium - among many functions,
calcium is important in the battle against bone
loss and Osteoporosis as you age. It's also been found in clinical studies to
decrease blood pressure significantly when taken via low fat dairy produce
combined with fresh fruit and vegetables. [Miller GD, DiRienzo DD, Reusser M,
McCarron D. Benefits of dairy product consumption on blood pressure in humans: A
summary of the biomedical literature. Journal of the American College of
Nutrition 2000;19:147S-164S.]
NONI CONTAINS BOTH MAGNESIUM & CALCIUM
Due to lack of space and time, it's impossible to list every single vitamin,
mineral and amino acid included in NONI and show in depth medical findings on
what they can individually they do for you, but The Office Of Dietry Supplements
at the National Institutes of Health is a great place to find out about them.
Most of the information provided above has come fron this authoritative
Government body.
So just to summarise, NONI contains all of the following in abundance - hence you
can understand why it can rightly claim to be a 'SUPERFOOD' - A, C, E, B1, B2, B6,
B12, Niacin, Biotin, Pantothenic Acid (B5), Folic Acid, Calcium, Iron,
Phosphorus, Magnesium, Zinc, Copper, Chromium, Manganese, Molybdenum, Sodium
Potassium plus Anthraquinones, Glycosides, Sterols, bioflavanoids, carotenoids
and more...
